Turning off a Marantz receiver every night automatically (all zones) in case you forget to turn it off (or forgot to turn off a zone)
Maybe it’s only me, but I frequently forget to turn my outside zone off (zone 2) since it uses outdoor self-powered speakers.
Yes I turn off the outside powered speakers, but forget about the inside audio source (the marantz sr8012)
Pressing the main “off” button on the receiver just turns off the main zone, not zone2/3
Adding your Marantz / Denon to home assistant
Follow the setup steps first, if you have not added your receiver to home assistant yet
Setting up the automation
Let’s head over to settings, automations, and create a new automation!
Now for the actions, use “Call Service” with media_player.stop and media_player.turn_off as service.
Make sure to pick your Marantz as an entity
alias: Turn off marantz (all zones) description: '' trigger: - platform: time at: '02:00:00' condition: [] action: - service: media_player.media_stop data: {} target: device_id: 7b7e3d8fa679c7e685a8eacb67eefe2d - service: media_player.turn_off data: {} target: device_id: 7b7e3d8fa679c7e685a8eacb67eefe2d mode: single
Testing the automation
Click save, head over to the automation, turn on your receiver (+zones), and hit the run automation button to verify everything is working!
That’s it! no more warm receivers in the cabinet!
