Raspberry Pi 3/4 and Raspberry Pi 5 – passive cooling with an Aluminium Case
I’ve used no cases, fan cooled cases for my raspberries, but they run hot, and fans break down.
Most recently I had a fan of a PI break 2000Km away from me, so that was annoying.
I’ve now started putting “full case heatsinks” passively cooling on my Pi’s and it’s a great success.
So it was time for passive cooling (Yay!)
I’ve purchased 5 cases for my Pi’s named “Geekworm Raspberry Pi 4 Aluminium Case” [affiliate link] (non aff link)
I’m sure it’s some generic case, but the working is pretty simple: dissipate heat over a large surface
Left of the drop is the “nude” raspberry pi, no fans, just a small heatsink, to the right is the above “full case” heatsink (monitored by a command line sensor)
