DJI Pre Departure and Pre-flight Checklist (Mini 3/4 Pro, Mavic Air and others)
Here is my own list of preflight/pre-checks before I fly
This can be used as a DJI Drone preflight checklist for other drones too, like the Mavic, air, etc… but it’s tailored towards the mini 3 and 4
This list is focused on the hardware/software itself, please do check for flying permissions/weather and such yourself!
Hardware checks
- The gimbal protective shield is removed
- Install/Remove appropriate ND / Polar
- Check that the battery level of the controller is above 25%
- Check that the drone battery is sufficiently charged for your planned flight
- Set the mode selector to normal ( cine / normal / sport )
- Check if the propellers screws are still there (propellors installed correctly)
- Check if the optical sensors are clean (no dirt/mud on them)
- SD card installed
- SD card not full
Software checks
- Wait on home point update ( 7 – 12 satellites )
- Set signal lost action to RTH (so the drone flies home whatever happens to the signal)
- Set RTH return altitude high enough to fly over the highest objects you plant to fly over
- On high winds set the RTH altitude lower so it can RTH at lower speeds
- Recording are saved to SD card not internal memory
- Sideways flight is enabled
- Obstacle avoidance: bypass (if appropriate)
Take off checks
- Put the drone in a spot without any trees or objects above it (in case you have an automated return to home, it can land)
- Make sure you have a home point set before taking off
